Pilonidal Sinus wounds are usually the result of surgery to the natal cleft area of the lower back / buttocks.
Surgery is required when an infection develops in this area and it results in a cavity wound which requires frequent dressing. In many cases these wounds are dressed frequently and heal rapidly but in some cases, for a variety of reasons, these wounds can fail to heal and require a specialist review.
The clinicians at our Wound Healing and Lymphoedema Centres have expertise in dealing with these types of wounds and will conduct a full assessment at the first review and develop a treatment plan to meet the clinical requirements of the wound and the patient’s lifestyle.
